Abstract
One of the works written in the field of practical (amalī) philosophy during the mu-taaḫḫirun period isal-Akhlāq al-ʿAdudwhich is written byʿAdud al-Din al- Īcī. Many commentar-ies have been written on this work, which has been remarkably effective since it had been composed. One of these commentaries isSharh al-Akhlāq al-ʿAdudwhich was written in the 16th century byMüneccimbaşı Ahmed Dede who is known as a politician, professor, and an Mawlavi Sheikh. In ourstudy, we first evaluated this commentary which is written in the Ottoman geography in terms ofits resources used in the first and second degree. Then, we examined technique of the commentaryboth in terms of style and content, and in terms of the terminological style. In the commentary,Müneccimbaşı systematized his understanding of ethics under the headings of individual-family-po-litical ethics. The author, who lived in the 17th century, succeeded in reflecting the accumulationof religious knowledge, philosophy, theology and mysticism to his work. This attitude can be inter-preted as an effort to solve the moral and political problems experienced in his period by consideringthe ancient heritage. This work which philosophy-kalam and mysticism were handled together is animportant example written in the field of morality during the mutaaḫḫirun period.
