Abstract
Known for his Aqaid work, Najm al-Dīn Umar al-Nasafī transferred his knowledge in different branches of science from Fiqh to Kalām, from Mathematics to Astronomy in his encyclopedic work Matla'u'n-nujūm ve mecma‘u'l-ulūm, which he compiled at the end of his life. The tracktate, which he wrote under the name Taĥśīl uśūl al-fiqh wa tafśīl al-maqālāt fīhā ‹alā al-wajh, in the section on the fiqh methodology of this compilation, is the only work of the author in the field of fiqh methodology. This tracktate is a summary of the book named Mīzān al-uśūl fī natāij al-‘uqūl by his classmate ‘Alāuddīn al-Samarqandī. However, the author was not content with only condensing the work, he changed some phrases, reorganized it and contributed to the work by choosing some procedural views that Samarqandī did not prefer. Besides conveying the views of the sheikhs of Samarqand and especially Abu Mansûr al-Maturīdī, whom he presented as their leader, it is one of the elements that increase the value of the work that it presents a successful comparison of the Bukhara Hanafi, Iraqi Hanafi, Shafii-Ash'ari and Mu'tazila method traditions.
